People keep making posts all about how you should neeeeeever pay money for software, acting as if everything that costs money is made by a big company and everything free is independently developed
hell even open source software doesnt have to be not owned by a company. i mean. android is open source lmfao.
i respect being broke as shit but dont act like its a moral imperative. if you cant afford to pay for software, thats fine, you shouldnt. but if you can then, idk, it’s not bad and maybe its even good when youre supporting independent creators but hey thats just me.
yeah it cant hurt to switch to as much independent software as possible but idk even if youre big into open source 1. you can donate :) 2. theres open source software that technically isnt free: aseprite is open source & costs like $20. youre not paying for the software here per se, youre paying for the convenience of not compiling it yourself lol
not a bit fan of how hostile to accessibility a lot of them are in ways that make them unwelcoming to me, oof. (pro-tip: ask yourself if it needs to move. if it doesn't, it shouldn't move. goodbye.)
people are so obnoxious about firefox, my god. i guarantee you the kind of person who bothers to use a non-chrome chromium knows enough to have made an informed decision. firefox treats me like a baby who cant be trusted with a computer. you cant set a custom new tab page on firefox. you can't even set a custom new tab page on firefox.
it's fine if you never want to change your new tab page or add arbitrary custom search engines, or are at least willing to install an entire extension to do that (why) and never ever want to install any extension that isn't available on the mozilla add-on store* but you're not in any way superior for being willing to put up with that lmao
*if i wanted to deal with that i'd still be using apple products, don't you think?
honestly ive tried to use firefox but installing 50 extensions to cover for standard browser features that are missing (supposedly for ~my own good~) made me want to scream
in particular i tried floorp and i like it bc it feels like the firefox equivalent of my preferred chromium but it doesnt re-implement any of those features
also firefox feels SO DESPERATE to get me to make a mozilla account. i dont want one!
anyways yes the chromium monopoly is bad but like, maybe firefox should consider being a good browser then...?

I think the best part is that all of these things used to be in firefox a couple years back. Inexplicably they were all removed and the only comment from the devs is “oh we didn’t trust the users to not get a virus”.
can it at least be a fucking toggle in fucking about:config. i hate you.
saw someone talking about how all the ads they see are completely worthless and feeling sad about project wonderful, the only ad network that ever gave me useful ads
like it makes sense that it's not feasible anymore because the internet is now just 10 websites but...
